The Amazing World of Amelia

We woke up by Dad scaring the bejesus out of us. We had to get up early because we were getting the early ferry to Naxos. So we started to eat our breakfast cereal. We went down the scary elevator and I warned Dad to be careful because he got an electric shock from the elevator and could have died. The taxi driver was waiting for us outside our nice apartment. We pulled over in the taxi at the port. “Whoa” I exclaimed because I saw our boat and it was gigantic! We hurried onto the boat so we could find good seats. But sadly, we could only find a table in the café where people lined up to get their food. Dad and I went exploring the ferry. Now we’re in Greece. We only have one full day in Athens so we wanted to make the most of it. We headed up the Acropolis feeling hot, tired and thirsty. The temperature was 42 degrees. That’s the hottest temperature I’ve ever been in. It was a very exciting morning. When we got to the top we saw the Parthenon. The Parthenon is an ancient building made by the Greeks for worshipping their gods. In particular they worshipped Athena. Once upon a time in that temple was an 11 metre tall statue of Athena. In her hand she held a smaller, human sized statue of Nike. He was the god of victory. That is why the shoe company chose that name. All that was left of the Parthenon today was tall columns and crumbled up marble surrounding us. Mum got our black binoculars out and I looked over the edge of the acropolis and was trying to spy on people in their apartments. The view was very beautiful. What a morning! We woke up this morning at 8.30. Mum’s alarm went off. We got ready to go on the plane to Athens. We got picked up a lady with her car to drive us to the airport. It was a tiny car so there wasn’t much space for our luggage. We had no seatbelts as well. We couldn’t find the bit that plugs into the seatbelt. She drove us further away because she took the wrong turn. And she had to get petrol so it took twice as long. Finally we got to the airport and we got rid of our bags into the hold of the plane. Then we walked to our gate. On the way we stopped and went to a cafe for Mum and Dad to get a coffee. Now we’re on the plane to Athens! On the plane to Athens with Finn

We woke up at 5.45 and got ready in time for our taxi to arrive. We had to clean the apartment and make it superb, superb. And more superb! Because that’s what the rules are at this apartment. The taxi was taking us to the airport. It was busy on the road and it took over an hour to get there. Thankfully it wasn’t busy at this airport like Luton was. We sat and waited for the flight to take us to….. Italy! Dun, dun, duuuun! When we got onto the plane I was excited and we sat right at the back. Mummy helped me write some of my blog (which we’re doing right now, on the plane to Athens!). We landed in Naples and got picked up by a man with his taxi car. He drove us about 25 minutes to our apartment. The roads were all paved and there was a lot of tooting going on. The car was medium sized. And when we got to our apartment there was a lady meeting us who helped us open the door and she was the lady who owned the apartment. She showed us around. It was very small. We woke and went to the coffee shop just around the corner from our apartment. It was another warm and sunny day. Mum and Dad both got a coffee and a croissant dipped in chocolate. Finn and I had half of one each. It was yummy even though it tasted different to the ones we get in New Zealand. Daddy had a go making someone in my fashion book by using the stickers. He named her Chockayla because he smudged some chocolate on my book by mistake. Then I added a little sister to the page and called her Choco. Dad walked inside the coffee shop to pay. All of it together cost 4 euros. Which is about $7. We strolled back home with a half filled tummy. Mummy and Daddy planned where we going next after Barcelona / Badalona. I played in my room while they were doing that. Finn and I made the sandwiches and it had tuna, mayo and corn mixed in it. Travelling to Ronda Yawn yawn.I woke up feeling quite tired and ate my breakfast with Dad. My brother Finlay wriggle bum woke up by dad sneezing very loudly. We got dressed and everything like that. Mum ordered an Uber to drive us to the bus station. We had one hour on the bus. Waiting for the bus Then we got to the train station. Suddenly I got told by mum that we had to wait half an hour and that was okay. Finally we hopped onto the train. Writing my blog on the train During the journey I got a bleeding nose. There was an Italian lady who said she was a nurse. She helped quite a lot. She said she was sorry for the bad English. She tried really hard and in fact her English was very good. The train arrived a little while later at our destination Ronda. Daddy pulled the bags down and we quickly hopped off the train because we didn’t want the train to leave the station while we were still on it. We woke up on a Thursday morning and me, Dad and Finn went to do a workout in the park. Finn had a six pack on his stomach. Daddy didn’t but he was very good at it and he kept trying to be able to do every sort of push-up. Some of it was hard, some of it was easy. I learnt how to do different things. After that exhausting workout in the hot sun we walked back home and it was just around the corner. Me, Mummy and Finn went straight to the pool but Daddy didn’t because he was feeling a bit sick so he had a snooze. We went to the pool. In the pool I didn’t want to go in because I thought it was going to be cold. Finn jumped straight in. I waited a while then Mummy jumped in. I waited another little while and then I jumped in. The Alhambra Facts I like: 1. Spain was once ruled by Arabs and Muslims 2. The buildings are now red instead of white because they have been out in the sun for so many years 3. It has 29 towers and a 2000m long wall We woke up very early to an amazing start to the day. We headed out to the Alhambra. It is a palace and fortress that started being built in the year 899. The King of Granada made changes to it in the 11th Century. When we got there we were like wow because it took us 51minutes to walk there. We showed the people our tickets. Daddy bought an audio guide. I had a go of listening to it, on number 91.  The Nasrid Palace was amazing. The Spanish word for palace is palacio. It was so amazing because it was where all the Sultans lived. Inside the building it was very, very detailed on all the walls and ceilings. Everything I saw had a pattern to it. We got up and started to pack because we were going to leave Teulada and go to Granada. When we started to take all our stuff down to the car I screamed because I saw a snake. It was alive and apsalutly real.  It slithered everywhere.  I was scared but it was so cute.  So I carefully walked down the path. I had to do it a couple of times!

We woke up then we did some blogging. Mum and dad took us to the fantastic market called Mercado Central. We got a cup of salami and cheese. It was delicious and scrumptious. I bought pineapple juice with my own money. It cost 1 euro. I liked it. I saw lots of food like meat, fruit, vegetables and some small snacks. I also saw a bit of seafood. We stayed there for quite a long time. It was quite cool in there and when we got outside it was very warm. There was a little wee playground that me and Finn had a go on.  Mummy, me, Finn and Dad all needed the toilet so we went to the Gardens to go to the toilet but when we got there it cost a bit of money. So we very quickly went back home. In about an hour we rented some bikes. I got a red one and Finn had a turquoise one.  We rode to some cool place called Ciudad de las Artes.
